Department of Music & Dance Summer Programs
The Department of Music and Dance hosts many camps, institutes, and workshops throughout the summer that have educational benefits for students, sometimes provide employment opportunities, and always enrich their artistic experience.
Midwestern Music Camp
Midwestern Music Camp is a comprehensive music camp with full symphony orchestras, choirs, bands, jazz ensembles and electives.
KU Jazz Workshop
The KU Jazz Workshop is an exciting week of instruction and performance in all aspects of jazz with special emphasis placed on small group performance. The camp is open to individuals of high school age and older.
Marching Band Camps
We are pleased to present one of the finest camps for marching auxiliaries in the Midwest . The KU Guard Camp and the KU Drum Major Camp are designed to provide high school students with specialized instruction from nationally known clinicians and local teachers.
Junior High Band and Orchestra Camp
Students from more than 20 states attend the one-week Junior High Band and Orchestra Camp. A schedule geared to the educational and musical needs of younger players features two full orchestras, four bands, and electives in each session.
Senior High Band and Orchestra Institute
Students from more than 20 states attend the one-week Senior High Band and Orchestra Institute. A schedule geared to the educational and musical needs of high school players features full orchestras and bands, jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, private lessons, and electives in each session.
Choral Institute
The Choral Institute features a week of educational activities designed to build the musical and creative skills of students in grades 9 - 12. Singers will be challenged in a variety of ensembles including full choir, voice classes, musical theatre, and vocal jazz ensemble.
